A few years ago IGT was really the only major player.
Lately, it seems that every time I see a really interesting machine it's a
WMS. WMS aka Williams was the creator of those pinball machines you
played as a kid. |

Moonlight Mansion , from Atronics International, is a new HI RES
slot with clean, interesting graphics, a great premise and very
interesting (potentially monster) bonus rounds…I found it at the tiny
WILDFIRE CASINO on Rancho Drive…Play up to 21 lines at: $.01, .02,
.03, .05 and .10 - up to $2.10 max. bet…Cat-eyes, full moons, bats,
several ghosts, candlesticks, spiders and the Midnight Mansions are on
the reels. Three Midnight Mansions trigger the bonus which first asks
you to choose between five rooms. Then you get to pick among various
hiding places where the loot is stashed. again the graphics here are
superlative. If you like a bit more substance to a slot, this may be for
you; it definitely is for me…

There's a NEW KID in town. Walk through any casino and you will
see hundreds of new Video machines with as many new faces: Jed Clampett,
Cleopatra and Dick Clark, to name just a few.
Penny, Dime and Nickel Video slots and Video games are being played by
thousands of gamers. Of course, to play them with any chance of a
decent jackpot you have to load the machine (play the maximum number of
lines - from 9 to 20-something or more + max bet for most Video games.)
You can play them for a penny a shot, if you just want to play on the
cheap.
Some of the machines (mostly IGT) have really great graphics and a fun,
workable premise. Other machines are generic and boring. Give
these LVBC favorites a try:
"HEXBREAKER" is basically a video game that you can
gamble on. In other words, this game would be fun to play even if
you weren't playing for dough. The game is interesting and the
graphics etc. are outstanding: Black Cats, Mirrors, Ladders and Magic. I played Hexbreaker at Texas Station, Frontier, Sam's Town
and the Plaza. The Plaza has Hexbreaker
Multi-denomination machines ($.01, $.02, $.05, $.10 and $.20.) Play
'up to' 13 lines - 1 to 20 coins per line. "MULTISTRIKE" is a four-tiered
Video poker (Poker, Bonus Poker, Double Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild etc.)
machine. The premise is that if you 'make' the first round you move
up to the next level, which pays 2X - then increases as you move up to the
top, which pays 8X your win. If you don't 'make' a level, you start again
at the bottom.
Theoretically, you could hit 4 Royals, which of course, depending on your
'load' could be really decent. I played Multistrike at: Stardust,
Main Street Station and Silverton. Depending on where you play,
Multistrike is offered from $.01 (at Silverton) to $.05, $.10 and $.25 at
the Stardust - varies at other locations.

We tried out the "MEN
IN BLACK" slot (WMS Gaming) at the Fiesta. The
machine has great audio and good graphics. The movement of
the reels is a notch above the norm. The maximum number
of lines is 20, so even at 1 unit (10 Max) bet per line the game can run your buy
in down fairly fast - if you don't hit the bonus rounds etc. We
played the penny rate at the fiesta, so it wasn't too severe. All in
all, it's an above average game - even though it's not an IGT
machine. |

reports that the Rock group KISS unveiled (Progressive Gaming
International Corp.) their video slot machine. Other celebrity
"games" mentioned were: Morgan Fairchild's, Soul Train's Don Cornelius' as
well as Ed McMahon's and Pamela Anderson's. |
