| In the 90s Silverton was
very appropriately called BOOMTOWN Hotel and Casino. Las Vegas was
booming, Steve Wynn was winning with The Golden Nugget, The Mirage and
Treasure Island and all was well in the desert. Boomtown was one
of the first, suburban hotel/casinos. There was a state-of-the-art
RV Park and Boomtown was a great escape from the city - lots of
breathing room in the clean fresh air on Blue Diamond Road (the road to
Pahrump, and Area 51.) |

"Need another reason to visit Las Vegas? Silverton casino has recently
opened its new expansion, which houses several beautiful salt and
fresh-water aquariums, which are free to the public."
"The main aquarium is a 117,000 gallon artificial reef which is home to
over "4,000 tropical fish from all over the world, 3 species of
stingrays and 3 species of sharks. The aquarium is a beautifully
designed octagonal aquarium with viewing on all sides. The front viewing
window is an impressive convex window that extends 25’ X 12’ and is one
of the largest single piece of curved acrylic in the US."

Back in the good ol' days, I was staying in
the RV Park. A five-minute walk (perfect for a bit of exercise) would
take me to the hotel swimming pool area for the Friday night Hawaiian
