That sprawling Emerald-green hotel (on The South Strip,)
with the golden lion out front is The MGM GRAND. It is The Land
of OZ...Well, it used to be - The MGM had an Oz-like theme. |

The MGM MIRAGE GROUP includes: Bellagio, The Mirage,
Monte Carlo and Treasure Island + several hotels which were not owned by
Wynn: The MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York - New York,
Circus Circus and Railroad Pass. These are just the hotels in Las
Vegas... |

This humongous, green-world's theme is: theatre. Throughout the hotel there are theatre marquees and other
theatre accoutrements. |

The Grand Foyer, where the Registration Desk is, has a
white marble floor (with inlaid 6" brass tiles.) In the middle, in a
round flower bed, there is another gold tone (plaster?) lion...There are a 'million'
golden stars on the ceiling... Does that have a special meaning? |

There is another lion, in fact several, in the indoor lion
habitat. One area has an acrylic plate inserted in the 'overhead,' where
a lion sometimes lays down to nap. It's pretty impressive to watch a
lion sleeping just a few feet above your head... |
