The Gypsy Den is a coffee-shop/restaurant/beat-cafe, where
you can do morning coffee and late night dinner/wine with later-night poetry or music. This is a unique place. It is the REAL DEAL. |
|
|
|
|
| |
Located in Santa Ana's "Artist's Village,"
the Gypsy Den is as comfortable and cozy as the parlor in your own home - if you have a comfortable and
cozy home with a parlor. |

Old stuffed couches and sofas, as well as tables (and
chairs,) provide part of the ambience. Other accoutrements include lots of dark wood, original
(COFFEE-HOUSE) art, colorful lamps,
rugs and tapestries, an upright piano (Tom Waits took it for a
spin, so I've heard) and an outdoor patio, replete with verdant flora, overlooking the plaza of the Artist's Village, where a new Plaza fountain
is under construction. |

The food is basically ok. The
portions are generous and fairly priced. Some of the bakery items could stand some improvement. The coffee is fine - ask for a
huge ceramic mug. It's not really about the
food in this place. |

If you are an artist, musician or poet or just feel
like one, this is the place for you (and me!) |
