| The Gold Strike Hotel and Casino is in
Jean, Nevada which is about 25 miles down (South) I-15. This used to
be the first gambling stop (from I-15-California,) then Primm opened just
across the state line. There are only two Hotels in Jean. There are
a couple of gas stations etc. |

| The hotel is older
(I stayed there at the end of August, 2005) and
becoming a bit seedy. |
|
| The good news is that the room rates are
about half of what you might pay in Las Vegas. I paid $60.00 on a
Saturday night. The Sunday thru Thursday rates are about $30.00.

| The Hotel has a buffet, restaurants, fast
food outlets, swimming pool and access to all of the other stuff at the
Hotel across the street. |

| Although the Hotel is showing wear and
tear, it seems to be safe and secure (OK for families.) Imagine
Pick-up trucks, good 'ol boys shooting craps after work and Miss
Kitty at the bar. |
