The Gold Spike - up to 2010 - was a gritty, downtown property that was host
to all sorts of folk, including assorted denizens of deep downtown Las Vegas
- which could on occasion be a trifle dicey. Yes, it was a fantastic
get-a-way, hide-a-way where one could find a $3.00 Roast Beef dinner, with
salad, vegetable and roll.

The KENO parlor was fast, lively and interesting, especially very late at
night - or was it early morning. |

Rooms were turning to seed, so to speak, but were once
decent - papered with grass-cloth - and fine appointments. |
