California Chrome appeared sluggish and finished in a dead heat for fourth with Wicked Strong in his bid to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome had his final gallop around the Belmont Park oval Friday morning, traveling two miles under exercise rider Willie Delgado after schooling in the paddock around 6 a.m. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will jog tomorrow morning at 5:30 a.m., a little more than 13 hours in advance of his bid to break a 36-year Triple Crown drought in the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes.
