Hotel California Gabriella Quevedo

I’d love to have this sparkling beverage in my cup——in my room on the top floor of the Hotel California.
Seriously though folks, Gabriella is a superb guitarist; this is, without doubt, the best Eagles cover ever recorded even though it’s just one instrument. Click photo to listen, then go to her Facebook Group for more… https://www.facebook.com/…/851909…/user/100044336984141/

From WIKI:
“Gabriella Evelina Quevedo (born 12 January 1997, Kinna, Sweden) is a Swedish guitarist. She grew up in Kinna and developed an interest in guitar because her father played the instrument. Her father is from Argentina and her mother is Argentine-Swedish. In addition to Swedish, she also speaks English and she understands Spanish.’

‘She began playing guitar at age twelve, quickly discovering, and mastering fingerstyle guitar techniques, which led to her recording a number of covers of other guitarists’ performances and her own guitar arrangements on YouTube. As of April 2021, Gabriella’s YouTube channel had 1.44 million subscribers and 237 million views. Selected covers have also been published in other channels. In July 2018 an album entitled Acoustic Cover Songs Vol. 1 containing 16 songs appeared on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music, Google Play Music, Tidal, YouTube Music and Apple Music. Gabriella’s first original songs, “Last Time” and “Remember”, were released at the end of 2019. They were recorded at Mono Music studio in Stockholm, established by former ABBA member Benny Andersson.”

Australian Guitarist Tommy Emannuel: An important guitarist on the short list with Les Paul, Chet Atkins, even Django Reinhardt

Tommy Emmanuel
Tommy Emmanuel

I was watching one of those stations that have the member, money-drives and saw, more importantly, heard this guy playing the guitar. Without sounding too much like a little girl, Ohh Myy Godd! I can barely remember being so impressed listening to a guitarist for the first time. Maybe Django Reinhardt or (going way back,) Andres Segovia were two guitarists who were as impressive.

Check out his long, slim fingers fingers…

Anyway Tommy Emmanuel must be considered one of the very best pop/jazz/rock/blues/finger-style picker guitarists in the world,,, if not the best.

If I’m the last one to discover his music, just like Columbus discovering America, tough t—y.

So you think you can play guitar? Filomena Moretti performing: Albeniz – Asturias

Don’t mean to up-stage the Guitar Center boys, however,

I was searching YouTube for Andres Segovia when I discovered this brilliant, passionate guitarist. She hails from Sardinia, Italy, is young and beautiful, and plays with an impeccable technique. I thought – with one exception being Charo – that one had to be an old-man like Segovia to play like this. I guess Segovia was once young also. Seems like I’ll always know him as that classy, suit-wearing old-man who was – if not still is – the greatest classical guitarist in the history of the world.

Young ladies (or young-men) like this experience a great euphoria. Their music will give them great comfort throughout their lives. Classical guitar performance is not unlike transcendental meditation. If you click the Segovia video you’ll see Andres Segovia (around 4:26) in position as a perfect Buddha. That is to say that he looks like a Buddha figure in meditation. What a lovely man he was.

ANGEL FLIGHT RadioTowerDVDMix.mpg

Originally published February 26, 2011

This video was suggested by my cousin, Susan Aiello.

Singer songwriter Radney Foster had a hit with this tune back in 2009.

“Foster wrote “Angel Flight” with fellow Texas songwriter Darden Smith to tell the story of the aircrew that fly fallen soldiers home to their final resting place. The Air National Guard entrusted with flying these soldiers refer to the journey as the “Angel Flight.”

This is quality sound. Whether you like country music or not, the sound quality of the principal acoustic guitar (sounding very much like a Martin D-35 dreadnought – honey-dripp’n, bassy-tone), the vocal excellence, and top-notch recording techniques of this video are superb. *The song brings to my mind, at least, that the roots of the tune, maybe, spring from the likes of the late, John Denver, Tom Rush, Gordon Lightfoot, Tom Paxton and others of that ilk. This tune is honed with the fine vocal back-up from the former, front-man for Hootie And The BlowFish, Darius Rucker.

*Since I don’t follow “country” that closely, I’m sure I’m missing other key players.

Anyway enjoy and thanks, Susan.

CHARO performing on guitar at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

As I promised, here’s that video clip of Charo and her guitar at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas – August, 2009. The virtuoso performance took place in the Crazy Girls showroom. The clip is 46 seconds long.

María Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza is also known as Charo.

I felt priviliged to be able to witness this performance by one of the finest Flamenco guitarists in the world.
The great Andres Segovia gave Charo master-classes when she was in her teens. The classes certainly paid off, or so it would seem.
