The Full MOON in October is not just a rumor, it’s coming October 29 at 1:50 P.M. Denver time: The Full Hunter’s Moon.

Video is from Old Farmer’s Almanac hosted by Amy Nieskens

October is the month of the Full Hunter’s Moon.
This was the time to hunt in preparation for winter. This full Moon is also called the Travel Moon and the Dying Grass Moon.

From Western Washington University:
American Indians gave names to each of the full moons to keep track of the passing year. The names are associated with the entire month until the next full moon occurs. Since a lunar month averages 29 days, the dates of the moons change from year to year. Here are titles most closely associated with calendar months. [Two of those names are mentioned here]

Back East
Mohawk, Eastern Woodlands
According to WWU: in the Mohawk language the word for this month’s moon is, kentenha (time of poverty.)

Westminster police have arrested a 17 year old boy for investigation of the kidnapping and murder of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway.

Austin Reed Sigg was arrested late Tuesday night after police received a tip that led them to a home near Ketner Lake Open Space, according to a news release from the Westminster Police Department.
The Associated Press has reported that Sigg’s mother turned him in.

Authorities also said that charges will be filed against Sigg for the May 28 attempted abduction of an adult jogger near Ketner Lake, which authorities confirmed earlier this week was connected to Jessica’s kidnapping and murder. Read more:

Zumba sex scandal: Names’ release puts innocent in spotlight

KENNEBUNK, Maine — Paul Main’s quiet evening was shattered by a phone ringing off the hook and a half-dozen TV crews showing up on his porch. Everyone wanted to know: Was he the same Paul Main who’s been accused of visiting a prostitute in Kennebunk?

The answer was no. But a decision to release the names of alleged prostitution clients without any ages or addresses has caused big problems for men who have the same names as the accused.

For weeks, rumors about a prostitution business have run rampant in this small New England town best known for its proximity to the Bush family summer compound in neighboring Kennebunkport.

KENNEBUNK, Maine (AP) — A lawyer isn’t giving up on trying to stop the release of names of men accused of giving business to a fitness instructor charged with running a prostitution operation out of her Zumba studio in Kennebunk, Maine.

A state judge declined to stop the release of names but a lawyer was filing an appeal Friday.

Kennebunk Police Lt. Anthony Burpee said law enforcement officials were awaiting word from the courts.

Alexis Wright has pleaded not guilty to prostitution, invasion of privacy and other charges for allegedly accepting money for sex and secretly videotaping her encounters. Her business partner also has pleaded not guilty.
