|
| An hour south of Santa Fe, New Mexico (on
I-25,) Albuquerque is a tri-cultural (Native
American, Hispanic, Anglo-European) city in the Southwest desert. |
|
| On the drive South on I-25 from Santa Fe, New
Mexico, the expanse of the Great American Desert is not
unlike a seemingly endless ocean view, the desert view is
- to say the least - breathtaking. |
|
| Albuquerque itself is a mix of the old and new.
A modern downtown with Starbucks, Ramada and Holiday Inns etc. is meshed
with Freeway signs adorned with Native American symbols. On the
outskirts of town, adobe homes pose in the distance. |
|
| On the Western edge (Central Avenue to Coors Road)
ancient, dormant volcanoes and petroglyphs await discovery.
There is a cave on top of one of the volcanoes. I found a sage incense
bundle in the cave on one visit. Hiking is allowed... |
